Coronary artery surgery

Coronary artery disease is a narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, which supply the heart with oxygen-rich blood.  This narrowing occurs as a result of the accumulation of cholesterol and fat molecules on the surface of the artery over time, limiting the amount of blood that can reach the heart muscle. Coronary artery surgery is one of the most prominent medical services provided by Prof. Dr. Muhammed El-Ghannam, due to his proficiency and experience in the field of diagnosing and treating coronary artery diseases.

Treatment of coronary artery disease with Dr. Mohammed El-Ghannam

Based on Dr. Muhammad Al-Ghannam’s assessment of the patient’s health condition and the severity of the disease, the doctor determines the appropriate method for treatment, as the treatment methods of coronary artery disease include the following:
  • Lifestyle changes such as eating healthy, not smoking, and exercising.
  • Medicines such as Calcium channel blockers, Beta blockers, Cholesterol medicine, and blood thinners.
  • Coronary angioplasty and stent placement.
  • Coronary artery surgery.

Coronary angioplasty and stent placement with Dr. Mohammed El-Ghannam

Professor Dr. Muhammed El-Ghannam, a consultant in open heart surgery and minimally invasive surgery advises patients with coronary artery disease to undergo cardiac catheterization to expand narrow or blocked arteries. Prof. Dr. Mohammed El-Ghannam inserts a thin tube (catheter) with an uninflated balloon into the femoral artery and guides the catheter to the blocked artery. The balloon is then inflated to widen the artery, restoring blood flow, and a small mesh stent may be placed to keep the artery open and prevent re-blockage.

Coronary artery surgery

In some serious cases, open heart surgery is required, or using limited surgical intervention, through coronary artery bypass grafting. In case of the open-heart surgery, it is called coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), the doctor creates a new path for blood flow around the blockage, and it is suitable for people with severe blockages in several coronary arteries.  Prof. Dr. Mohammed El-Ghannam can treat coronary artery disease by repairing and removing blockages through minimally invasive surgery using an endoscope, this is one of the safest surgeries and is performed through a small opening in the chest that is only 5 cm long.  To conclude, coronary artery surgery is one of the most common heart surgeries at present due to the prevalence of coronary artery disease.  Prof.Dr. Mohammed El-Ghannam provides a long-term radical solution for coronary artery patients, due to the early diagnostic methods he uses and many modern techniques in coronary artery surgery such as open heart and limited surgical intervention.
